Sudden Buzz of Activity

When you notice a sudden buzz of activity, in a smallish area (about 1 cubic meter), this is also no cause for alarm. It will look something like the picture displayed here on top.

This is known as an Orientation Flight. It is the first flight of a new batch of bees outside the hive, and it lasts for 5 to 10 minutes. The colony is not suddenly angry and preparing for an attack. It’s actually quite fascinating to watch.

You’ll notice the bees all face the hive, and just keep buzzing around that small area.

So while that in itself if no cause for alarm, it may just be the event that alerts you to the presence of a bee colony that you might not have been aware of. And now that you know its there, you want it removed. If so, feel free to call us.
